Types of Fostering
Helping you understand which type of fostering is right for you
You could foster in a variety of ways, each of them equally important in supporting vulnerable children and young people. Explore some of the different types of fostering we support:
Parent & Child Fostering
Parent & Child (P&C) placements are short-term arrangements where Foster Carers help and guide a parent, or parents, to care for their baby or young child.
With P&C Fostering, Foster Carers support and give vulnerable parents the skills they need to care for their child, thus breaking the cycle of neglect and potential future involvement with social services.
Fostering Teenagers
Fostering teenagers means you get to help a vulnerable young person explore their potential.
Often overlooked, these young adults have usually faced trauma, neglect or abuse where stability, boundaries and nurturing parental care may not have featured in their young lives. Physically, they have grown but emotionally, they are still children who need just as much love and care.
Fostering Siblings
When a young person enters foster care, it can be a scary time, only made worse by being isolated from their siblings. We strongly believe that all siblings should be placed together where appropriate and whenever possible. Being placed together helps maintain their emotional and physical well-being, but sadly there are not enough Foster Carers who can support this. Could you help by fostering siblings?
